Justice Aquino
obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the Manuel L. Quezon
University
in 1955 and passed the Philippine Bar at the same year. Thereafter, he
engaged in the practice of law for several years. In 1983, he was
appointed
Acting Dean of the College of Law of the Cagayan Colleges in Tuguegarao
where he taught law for 13 years. In 1987, he was appointed
Regional
Trial Court Judge. As such, he was conferred the Outstanding RTC
Judge of the Philippines by the Foundation for Judicial Excellence, and
the award for the Best Decision in Remedial Law by the Fred Ruiz Castro
Memorabilia Commission in 1995. This paved the way for his promotion to
the Court of Appeals where he was the Chairman of the 14th Division
until
his retirement in 2003. He is also a faculty member of the UP Law
Center
and of the Department of Ethics and Judicial Conduct of the Philippine
Judicial Academy. He was the Bar Examiner in Remedial Law in the Bar
Examinations
of 1998 and 2003.
